This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site. If
you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here
first.
2005 Update
After diversions into other projects - and a pressing need to work for money
as opposed to free - this site is at last being revamped and updated.
The first stage involves to setting up a more business-like structure. One of
the early steps is the registration of domain names on the World Wide Web - and
so www.NorthernHeritage.org.uk
is now registed and a holding web page created. More domains are being set-up at
present. However progress is still likely to be slow since there is no revenue
or funding for the work and resources are very limited.
Initial Developments
- Prototype of our new Boatmen and Mariners
site is available online.
- Our Feedback page is operational.
- The Townsley Family History site is being considered for inclusion
in the "FamilySearch" - the world's largest genealogy
resource.
- Plans are being made for a new range of Northern Heritage products
that make use of our specialised skills - see our new
Products page.
- The Townsley Family History site has grown to include a second
database of family trees and continues to attract new researchers from
around the world. It is now included in "Cyndi's List"
family history links.
- The L&LCS pages have created significant interest in the
waterways community. Responses on the design and content have been excellent
with quotes of - "Congratulations
on the site, the best looking canal site we've seen", "Very
nice and lots of useful links", "Splendid,
Brian!" and "Congratulations on a
great site".
- Leeds & Liverpool Canal Society pages extended and layout
updated to include three new Photo Gallery
pages (with 12 new photos), a new Decorative Clip
Art page (with new artwork) and an expanded Links
page. Also additional "photo objects" created for most pages and
an announcement e-mail sent to other related sites.
- Links to our main web developments provided on our Home Page.
- Pilot Web Site available from August 2000 -
the initial set of pilot web pages were loaded to the BBC Worldwide
freebeeb.net server for user trials. [If you are viewing these pages
